Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers see food from a fresh angle: a clear explanation, a grounded comparison, a well-framed history or an account of a food custom with enough context to avoid sweeping claims. Strong proposals have one main question and a reader in mind.
What to pitch
Send an original idea about ingredients, kitchen craft, food history, foodways or the experience of eating together. Explain the central question, why it matters to curious general readers and what the piece would help them understand. A specific angle is more useful than a broad subject such as food culture or a list of possible headlines.
A good fit
We favour pieces that are clear, self-contained and attentive to context. Tell us what material or expertise you would bring, and note any uncertainty or perspective the story should handle carefully. Do not send confidential material, unsupported claims or a finished piece that depends on invented sources. We cannot promise that every proposal will be accepted.
How to send a proposal
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option, then include your pitch in the message. Add a proposed title if you have one, but lead with the idea rather than polishing the headline. Please do not include private or sensitive information that is not needed to consider your proposal.
Food makes culture tangible
A pantry, a cooking method or a shared meal can open up a bigger story. We look for those connections without treating any one way of eating as the only right one.
